Summer 2008 marks Julia Fischer’s debuts with the Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Festival, at Tanglewood (Haitink) and at the BBC Proms in London (Kreizberg). After performing at Aspen Music Festival she will further appear in recital with Yakov Kreizberg at Germany’s Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern as well as in concert with the Netherlands Philharmonic in Amsterdam and London (Brahms).
Highlights of the 2008-09 season include debuts with Chicago Symphony (Zinman) and Los Angeles Philharmonic (Eschenbach), a return to the NY Philharmonic (Maazel), Carnegie Hall with the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra (Jansons), Boston Symphony (Temirkanov), Philadelphia Orchestra (Dutoit), Cincinnati Symphony and San Francisco Symphony (Tilson Thomas with Bronfman). Julia Fischer is also guest artist and leader for the 50th Anniversary tour of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. In Europe, Julia will perform with the Tonhalle Zurich Orchestra, the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Philharmonia (Maazel), tour with the Chamber Orchestra Württemberg in Scandinavia as well as with the Netherlands Philharmonic and return to Gewandhaus Orchestra and Munich Philharmonic. In Japan, she will make her NHK Symphony debut (Maerkl). A prolific recitalist, Julia Fischer will be heard in recital in Europe, North America and Asia.
In 2009-10 Julia Fischer will be “Artist in Residence” with the Tonhalle in Zurich and, similarly, in 2010-11 in Baden-Baden and Monte Carlo. During 2009-10, she will tour her solo Bach sonatas and partitas in Europe and the US. Her PentaTone discography has gained numerous nominations including the Diapason d’Or, Choc de la Musique and two ECHO awards. Gramophone’s 2007 “Artist of the Year” Julia Fischer has recently been signed to Decca Records where her first album, dedicated to Bach violin concertos, will appear in January 2009. In winter 2006 was named by BBC Music Magazine the "Best Newcomer of the Year". Additionally, France’s prestigious music journal, Diapason, has awarded Julia Fischer the 2006 “Diapason d'Or l’année”.
A student of famed violinist Ana Chumachenco, Julia Fischer is herself Germany's youngest Professor of Violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main.
